MR MARK TODD - ASHFORD ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES / CSA
As is the case with many of those involved in commissioning, Mark fell into the sector from a background in the building industry; his father being a respected Chartered Quantity Surveyor.  This gave Mark an early introduction to construction, earning his stripes carrying ladders and sweeping floors, before finding his way into the commissioning services.
His first job was with a small outfit in the South East at the age of 19, starting at the bottom and learning on the job - always observing, questioning and assimilating how the work should be undertaken.  Moving on through several companies over the next ten years, including a period spent ‘freelancing’, he garnered all the information, experience, and advice, required to progress, eventually becoming a Senior Commissioning Engineer with Ashford Environmental Services Ltd.  Over the ensuing decade, motivated by family and fatherhood, a solid work ethic and the sheer desire to succeed, he moved up through the ranks. His goal of becoming a partner in a firm by forty years of age was realised in 2017 when AESL made him a Company Director.  Progressing from the Shop Floor to the Boardroom has given Mark some of his greatest challenges and he is proud to have overcome each of them and to have enjoyed the successes along the way.  A highly experienced contract winner, he readily shares his knowledge of the UK commissioning industry with others – colleagues, clients and contemporaries alike. These attributes have led Mark to be elected by his peers to Chair the Commissioning Specialists Association for not the typical two-year tenure, but for three years. Through this and other roles he has undertaken within the CSA over many years, he has helped to drive the Association from strength to strength, allowing the entire commissioning industry to reap the benefits, now and long into the future.
